Watchet Harbour and Museum

At Watchet you can find the inn where it is thought the first few ideas for the Ancient Mariner poem were discussed and maybe assembled. This is the Bell Inn, in Market Street, which is just a stone’s throw from a statue of the Ancient Mariner on the seafront, erected in 2003 as a memorial to Coleridge’s epic tale.

The Museum is also very close by and is well worth visiting to learn more about the tiny harbour that is the Mariner’s home port.
